UAC Equity Scholarships and its Meaning

What does UAE Equity Scholarships mean?

Equity Scholarships help financially disadvantaged students with the general costs associated with tertiary study.

Equity Scholarships are awarded to students from low socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those who receive Centrelink income support payments.


There are two types of Equity Scholarships:
  1. Institution Equity Scholarships (IES) funded by individual institutions
  2. Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP) Scholarships funded by the Australian Government for Indigenous students.

Equity Scholarships in UNSW and How to Apply

1. For you to be eligible for the equity Scholarship at UNSW Sydney, you must be an Applicant via UAC or direct.

2. When you apply, you don’t have to tell them which scholarship you’re applying for. The institutions at which you’re currently enrolled and/or from which you’ve received an offer of admission will consider you for all scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria.

3. You can only submit one scholarship application during the 2017–18 admissions period or 2018-19, as the case may be for each new year.
Your application remains 'live' throughout this period.

Scholarship description - Malcolm Chaikin Foundation Scholarships, Australia UGCA1210.

Outline

The prestigious Malcolm Chaikin Foundation Scholarships aim to encourage and support students who wish to study in the fields of Science, Engineering or Commerce/Science at UNSW.

Chaikin scholars are expected to demonstrate leadership and innovation, and make an active contribution to their field of study. Students receive an annual stipend of $15,000 plus access to an academic mentor and invitations to scholar only events.

Eligible Programs for the Malcolm Chaikin Foundation Scholarships:
Malcolm Chaikin Commerce/Science Scholarship: Bachelor of Commerce/Science Program
Malcolm Chaikin Engineering Scholarship: All Engineering programs except for combined Engineering/Law

Malcolm Chaikin Science Scholarship: All Science programs except for Medicine, Optometry, Medical Science. Combined Programs that include an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Science are also eligible

  • Reasons for undertaking the course
  • Personal qualities such as leadership potential

This is referring to Australian government scholarships for Local and International students. Australia Awards are international scholarships and fellowships funded by the Australian Government offering the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research
and professional development.

2 Search for scholarships

Make sure to select ‘International’ in the Residency search box to see the list of scholarships available to you. To be considered for a scholarship, you must submit a separate application in addition to your admission application for UNSW.

3 Register for your chosen scholarship

Before applying for your chosen scholarship, first register an account by following the instructions on
the page. You need to have lodged an application for admission at UNSW to be able to register and apply for a scholarship.

4 Apply for your chosen scholarship

To apply, log in using your login ID (e.g. z1234567) and password (e.g. zPass).
